John’s financial advising follows a business career that sent him to South American and Asia on behalf of IBM and Archer Daniels Midland.
After graduating from Wake Forest University, John earned a master’s degree from Louisiana State University. He is currently completing a doctorate in environmental science at the University of South Florida (USF). He teaches environmental science, ethics, law, and policy courses as an adjunct professor at the USF Manatee-Sarasota campus.
John’s many community service activities have included serving on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Association and as vice president of business development for the Sarasota Sister Cities Association. He is currently treasurer of the Crowley Museum and Nature Center and a finance committee member at ShelterBox USA, which delivers life-saving supplies around the world after natural disasters. As a ShelterBox Response Team member, John has traveled to flood-ravaged communities in Niger and Peru.
